Calisthenics is a uniquely Australian sport involving a combination of activities including marching, singing, aerobic exercise routines, rod twisting, club swinging, dancing and ballet set to music. Children are assessed and placed into classes appropriate to their skill level enabling them to develop and advance according to their ability. Gymnasts may be given the opportunity to compete at local competitions. Classes are based on the Gymnastics Victoria levels system. Classes are available for boys aged 7 and over. Men's Artistic Gymnastics can assist your son with their concentration and learning and will teach him self-discipline. Women's Artistic Gymnastics is the ideal sport to teach your daughter coordination and confidence. Classes also incorporate games, all of which are designed to assist in learning and developing gymnastics skills. The classes are based on a combination of Gym Fun and Gymstar levels components. Classes are available for boys and girls with the youngest being 5 years old. General Gymnastics is a sport for all ages, gender or ability. Dance participants do not compete at competitions since the aim of the class is to enable the participants to enjoy learning how to dance and to have fun. Ultimately those individual steps are choreographed into 3 or 4 full routines. The classes are taught by a qualified dancer and include learning of individual dance steps. Adult dance classes are held for an hour once a week. We believe there is no other sport able to offer such a wide range of opportunities to our participants! Cheerleading: * Is an energetic sport that develops poise, coordination and self confidence * Develops team spirit and morale * Provides an opportunity that can lead the crowd in a positive way at competitions and sporting events * Provides an exciting experience in a fun filled environment * Gives participants the opportunity to express rhythm in music Cheerleading within Australia involves teams performing displays, which may incorporate the use of hand apparatus such as Pom Poms. It is the variety of disciplines within Calisthenics that make the sport so appealing; dance, gymnastics, singing, ballet, acting and above all the joy associated with performing on a theatre stage. The components of the sport aim at achieving those physical attributes, the sport also effects the emotional and social development of girls and boys through friendship and teamwork. (more).
